Many years later in 2018, we had a thought: "These are the best cookies we've ever had, why not sell them to other people on the weekends so they can enjoy them too? What's the worst that can happen?" That turned out to be a life-changing decision. Slowly but surely more and more people began ordering our cookies and telling their friends about them. We got to the point where we outgrew our kitchen at home and couldn't keep up with the demand. On one night in 2019, we decided to go for it, quit our jobs completely, and start our own cookie company from the ground up. We knew nothing about starting a business and had to learn everything from square one. It took almost a year to get everything set up, and eventually on March 7th, 2020, Treat You Batter in Detroit opened up.

The overwhelming support and love our community, family, and friends showed us was incredible. Everything was running smoothly until the pandemic really hit and forced us to shut down our storefront. We got hit hard. There were lots of late hours, struggling to find money for rent and bills, and having nothing else to fall back on. We kept our heads down and kept working, focusing on what we can do to improve our business. And finally, we were able to open up to the public again. Once we were open again, our community was there for us again, supporting us more than ever.

In the fall of 2022, we had another wild thought: "What if we open up a 2nd location in the heart of West Dearborn?" We heard a lot of criticism and doubt, but we knew with the continued support of our community, family, and friends, we will make it work. And on March 14th, 2023, we opened our second location.

Our family immigrated here from war-torn Iraq with nothing but the hope of going somewhere safer. Our parents worked extremely hard to give us opportunities that they didn't have growing up. It was a struggle growing up in a completely new country, but having each other and learning the importance of hard work instilled a drive in us that helped us more than any amount of money could have. We are so blessed to be here and be a living example of the American dream. We are so excited to see what the future has in store for us, and we will continue to focus on our quality and customer service that we pride ourselves on. We cannot thank our family, community, and friends who have supported us from day one.
